I'll be quite out of action for a few days or maybe even up to a week. Meanwhile, I may be less likely to be accessing my computer. Thus, I will be less likely in this site or Mobinauts or Facebook or Twitter or Live Messenger. I may also probably not be reading my e-mails much during the week. Main mode of connection will be by phone. So, please bear with me for missing in action soon. Avoid e-mailing me or posting here during this period if you need a quick reply. Please be patient with my late replies. I thank you all for supporting this site.

I have been pretty inactive in this site lately and even my twitter activity has dropped a little. Well, I've been busy with several things and also busy falling sick.
Anyway, I will still be busy for quite some time. So, activity in this site and pace of development will either be slow/low for some time. Neverthless, I'm still very keen to hear your inputs (feedback, suggestions, etc) on improving the applications that I have developed. I'm also thinking of continuing work on the Smartphone version of ClearTemp once I can find time. Do you have any suggestions or requests for the app? Do let me know your thoughts here!

I'm love a variety of food and 竹筒飯, steamed rice sets & soup are among my favorites. I've tried the 竹筒飯 and soup at the food court in Raffles City and found them to be pretty good, though not exactly outstanding. The prices are a little on the steep side though. How I miss the steamed rice & soup @ Amoy hawker centre...

Over the weekend, I went on a trip to Johor Bahru for food & shopping on the saturday with some cousins. The goals of the day were simple: bakuteh, A&W, and shopping. So, we went to Soon Huat Bakuteh for our first stop. It's situated in Jalan Sutera in Taman Sentosa. We hopped onto a cab after crowssing the Malaysia customs. Fortunately, the taxi driver is a chinese and there was no communication barrier. He asked us whether we wanted to go to Ah Soon or Soon Huat bakuteh, and both of them are situated in the same area. Apparently, Ah Soon bakuteh serves clear soup while Soon Huat bakuteh serves herbal soup. Since clear soup is all too common in Singapore, we went for Soon Huat bakuteh.

Upon arriving at Soon Huat bakuteh shop, we ordered a serving size for 3 person and topped it off with tau pok and cold barley drink. The barley drink was just nice...not too sweet, but not bland either. The tau pok was served rather quickly and it tasted great. The sauce isn't too salty and complemented the rice very well. After quite a bit of waiting, our claypot bakuteh finally appeared! And WOW, the soup is really good. The meat was still a bit hard though. Inside the pot, there is pork ribs, fatty pork meat, and pig's liver. Skipped pig's liveras they are not quite my cup of tea. The place is a bit warm, partly due to the weather these days. But I still think the trip is worth it for the soup & tau pok. I would want to come back here again next time.

After bakuteh, we intended to go to Jusco for shopping and A&W. That's where the joke started. Firstly, we though the place was very near and assumed the cab fares shouldn't be alot. The taxi drivers asked where we wanted to go and I said Jusco. The first taxi driver asked whether it's Jusco Tebrau and I assumed yes. After asking around for the taxi fare, we hopped onto one cab after I misheard the fare that he has quoted (misheard RM15 as RM5).

And so, we ended up in Tebrau City. We hopped around almost the whole shopping centre and bought some stuff. I even found the Aquafresh toothbrush that I have been trying to hunt for in Singapore and also in City Square (JB). Strangely, A&W didn't seem to be in sight in the shopping mall. After clarifying with the reception & also with one local guy, we finally found out that we were at the wrong place. So, Jusco is the name of a departmental store chain after all!

Next, we hopped onto a cab to Jusco Permas Jaya, where the A&W outlet really is and went straight to A&W for our dinner. I ordered waffles with ice-cream, onion rings, curly fries and root beer float. I haven't eaten these in many many years and really miss them alot. The root beer float is really great. I felt so bloated after the heavy meal. I should try waffles with butter & honey the next time round. After the meal, we headed to City Square for some final shopping before heading back home. We headed for home at around 10pm and was glad that there was no traffic jam or bus crowd. Looks like that's a great timing to head back home from JB on a saturday night.

I should have posted food photos more regularly. Oh well....here are some good stuff I ate over the past month
Curry mee @ Hong Lim Complex. Simply delicious.
Katong Laksa @ The Bencoolen (near Sim Lim Square). I just love laksa & curry.
Popeyes chicken @ The Flyer. The chicken is less oily than KFC. Whipped potato is good.
On one of the weekends, I had dinner at Red Lacquer in Jurong Point. It was actually my second time eating there. Ordered nasi lemak set this time round.
Went to POMO (formerly Paradiz Centre) for lunch on one of the weekdays and had ramen in the Japanese food court. I love a food court like this!
Well, I like ice-cream and I also like chocolate. Brownie with ice-cream seems great. This dessert is called "Oz Brown" in Mad Jack Cafe.

More shots of bakuteh, together with pig intestines, which I enjoy having near my home...

Last Saturday, I went to the diamond digging event at Plaza Singapura and had my lunch over at Ichiban Sushi. I love sashimi & kaminabe.

And I had ayam penyet at the muslim coffee shop at Jurong West St 51 for dinner today. The chicken tastes great, but the soup was too salty.
